A meeting of the full Vale Council was brought to a halt on Monday by about 25 angry Penarth Council tenants. Police were called in and the meeting was suspended for about 15 minutes before the residents of the Royal Close and Harbour View estates left peacefully.
Maintaining its proud record of at least one first prize a year, now extending over a period of 26 years, Stanwell once again has a representive, David Llewellyn, of the sixth form, among the 12 first prize winners in Britain in the senior essay section of the European Schools' Day competition.
Christian Aid Week 1978 hit the jackpot, raising a record £3,000,000 - an increase of some 15 per cent on the previous year.
Comedian Tom Morgan kept members of Penarth WRVS Darby and Joan Club in gales of laughter at their recent meeting.
Martin Britton of Chapel Close, Dinas Powis, has won the coveted "Salesman of the Year" Award. Mr Britton represents "Smedley-HP" and was recently presented with the Silver Challenge Cup.
