Parents are going green!

PENARTH'S Paget Rooms was bursting with activity recently when it played host to the Green Baby Fair.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council invited families to find out all there is to know about a greener lifestyle at its annual event.

The hall was full all day, with many mums travelling from the rural Vale, and coming from as far away as the Valleys, after learning about the fair through the Royal Gwent Hospital.

The fair, organised in conjunction with the environmental organisation Sustainable Wales, showed mums and dads with young children that it is easy and fun to adopt a more environmentally friendly way of living.

The fair ran between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, June 19, and had stalls selling everything from re-usable nappies to pampering products. And there was lots to keep little ones entertained, with the Cardiff Play Resource Centre's Re-Create project Tumble Tots.

There was information on recycling, composting, energy efficiency and organic gardening, as well as first-hand advice on child safety at home and in the car, dental care, healthy eating, pregnancy and breast-feeding.

The use of reusable nappies was a major theme of the Green Baby Fair, with several exhibitions focusing on the subject.

Mums and children were also given the chance to be pampered, with baby masseurs, reflexologists, aromatherapists and many other qualified therapists offering their services free of charge.
