EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of June 22, 1979:

The St Joseph's RC School under-11 girls relay team, Phillippa Jones, Simone Roberts, Catherine Candy and Angela Britton, broke the Welsh record in the National Catholic Junior Schools Athletics Championship.

The Royal Close and Harbour View Residents Action Group have called on the Vale Council to be prepared to rehouse tenants of the two estates.

Jonathan Whitehead successfully "cracked the safe" at one of the many sideshows at the Sully Hospital Fete last Saturday.

A few tears were shed when Annie Proctor visited the Penarth class of G and M Slimming World recently. Annie's heart rending story of her fight on flab made interesting and easy listening.

John Paul and David Barker presented money raised for the National Children's Home through the Sunny Smile Appeal, at the Ardwyn Garden Party, Dinas Powys.

Thelma Jupp, JP was installed as the new President of the Penarth Inner Wheel Club by retiring President Rosa Clemo.
