EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of July 13, 1979:

A former Penarth UDC councillor, Quentyn Lewis, of Cwrt-y-Vil Road, has expressed concern at the intended future use of The Kymin as a meeting place for local organisations.

Chairman of Penarth Ladies' Circle Margaret Mason was joined by a former Circle chairman to cut the cake at their 15th anniversary dinner, held at The Carlton.

Members of the Vale Housing Committee have sent a telegram to the secretary of state for Wales, requesting a meeting with him, after receiving a letter sent on his behalf stating that he wishes the councillors to continue their negotiations over the Harbour View and Royal Close Estate with Welsh Office officials.

Rotarians and their wives met at The Commodore for the installation of the new president, Leslie Richards, on Wednesday evening last week.

A number of people thought they were watching a real emergency off Penarth Head on Wednesday last week, but in fact it was South Glamorgan Fire Brigade taking part in their fourth fire-fighting exercise at sea.
