EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of July 27, 1979:

A proposal to build two or three blocks of flats on land adjacent to the Esplanade Hotel, at Penarth seafront, was rejected by the Vale Planning Committee.

Town Clerk Percy Metcalf welcomed Madame Kervella, wife of the Mayor of St Pol de Leon to the French National Day Dance at the Commodore last Friday.

Sapper Ron Evans, from Penarth, is a member of the TAVR Sapper Regiment, and has recently returned from Berlin where they trained for two weeks under the auspices of 38 (Berlin) Field Squadron Royal Engineers - the 'local' residents.

A proposal to develop Elm Grove Sawmills, off Cardiff Road, Dinas Powys, has hit a snag over access.

Winner of the Walking Section in the Carnival Parade, was Colin Eveleigh (Dr Who and K9). He was presented with his trophies by Town Mayoress, Theresa Leddington and Madame Kervella from St Pol de Leon.
