A Penarth Businessman is planning to build a modern, 35-bedroom hotel near the town centre. The purpose-built hotel could include a restaurant and bar facilities plus a conference room.

Penarth Town Council is to take a fresh look at the possibility of running its own lottery.

Members previously decided that if the Vale Council ran a lottery they would not.

Mr Peter Stead, Labour's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate told Barry Trades Council that there will be a continuing need for some kind of wage restraint.

Keith Davies was one of the Stanwell Comprehensive School pupils who took part in last week's recital to mark the presentation of a grand piano to the school by the Parent-Teacher Association.

Ms M Kavanagh of Cedar Way, Penarth, was a winner of the Green Giant Competition in Woman's Realm. Her prize is a set of 24 hand cut crystal glasses and a Wedgwood dinner service.
