EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of August 31, 1979:

The proposal to take Llandough out of Penarth so that it forms a separate community with its own community council has been confirmed by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales.

Two students in the Sixth Form at St Cyres Comprehensive School, Robert Marshall and Gerald Suggett, staked their entrance to Cambridge University on their results at Advanced level GCE.

Claire Turton, daughter of Mr and Mrs W J Turton of Church Avenue, Penarth, was the winner of the Centre Hotels/Portsmouth Polytechnic Award.

Dinas Powis Bowling Club members won no less than three of the major trophies at the Vale of Glamorgan County Bowling Association Finals Day, held at Penarth Bowling Club last Friday.

Damage estimated at £2,000 was caused by a fire which broke out at Rabaiottis snack bar at Penarth Esplanade on Saturday.
