THE HEAD of Westbourne School says he is delighted with an excellent set of GCSE results this year.
Head of the school Ken Underhill said: "I am absolutely delighted with our results again this year. I would like to thank the staff and students for all their hard work and congratulate them on their fine achievements."
Outstanding results were gained by Sadik Quoraishi, who got 10 A* and two A grades, and Danielle Thompson who got eight A*s and four A grades.
Sadik Quoraishi, who will now take A-levels in biology, maths, chemistry, physics and economics, said: "I'm pleased but feel as though I could have done better. I would like to go on to do a degree in engineering or business but I might change my mind. I wouldn't rule out a career in medicine."
Danielle Thompson, who will go on to do A-levels in biology, history, French and geography, said: "It's early yet but I am thinking about a career in law."
Henk Smit got eight A*s, three As and one B grade and Sophie Butcher was awarded three A*s, eight As and one B.
Year 11 gained 56 percent of passes at A* or A. All but one pupil achieved the minimum of five passes. The average number of GCSE subjects gained by the class was 10.6.
Year 10 students sat GCSE examinations a year early and 50 percent passed at A* and A grade with 82 percent gaining a grade A* or B and 55 of 56 entries gained a grade C or above.
Max Cory, Jonathan Cheung and Celeste Mottahedin-Fardo all achieved one A* and two A grades in business studies, business and communications systems and religious studies.
Westbourne school was founded in 1896 when Caroline Ferris named it "Westbourne House Preparatory School for Boys." It moved to Stanwell Road in 1901.
