A PENARTH mum has said her 13-year-old daughter is petrified to return to school because of extreme physical and verbal abuse she is suffering at the hands of bullies.
Ruth Jones, 29, of Byrd Crescent, has called Stanwell Comprehensive School's anti-bullying policy "a farce" for failing to deal with the pupils responsible for a series of physical and verbal attacks on Naomi.
She said: "It has got to the stage now where Naomi is petrified to set foot outside of the door on her own.
"This is a situation that began at Victoria Primary and has got worse and worse since Naomi has been at Stanwell.
"Naomi found herself in between two groups who didn't get on and was victimised by one of the groups for making friends with the other.
"A group of girls from her year and some older pupils have been making Naomi's life hell ever since.
The mum added: "She is taunted because of my weight and because my brother, Conrad, who lives with us, is mentally and physically handicapped.
"They call her uncle 'a mong' and me a 'fat slag'. "She has been punched in the face a number of times and ran away from school the other day because she had had her lunch rubbed into her uniform.
"Graffiti about her was written on the school playground. "We were receiving abusive telephone calls, so we changed our phone number. They have told Naomi they will 'break her legs' and 'kick her teeth in' unless she gives them the new number. They often send taxis to our house and once called out a wheel-chair ambulance."
The constant attacks are taking their toll on the young girl. Ruth said: ""Naomi breaks down emotionally night after night and won't eat because they keep telling her she is going to grow up to be as fat as her mother. She has said she doesn't want to live any more and can't understand why these girls hate her so much.
"I believe Stanwell's anti-bullying policy is a farce. "Each time Naomi has complained to staff, the girls bullying her complain about Naomi. They say she is doing to them what they are really doing to her.
"I am dismayed by the attitude of staff at Stanwell School. Trying to get something done has been like banging your head up against a brick wall. "Naomi does not have a single friend at that school. Bullies work in gangs, not alone.
"I am at my wits end and don't know what to do. I have tried to get her a move to St Cyres, but that couldn't happen until January."
Stanwell Compre-hensive School declined to comment.
