It was poignant to see so many people touched by the tragic death of one of our town's young men this week.

I'm referring to the funeral for Craig Hopkins, as shown on last week's front page.

It was reported that hundreds of mourners turned out to say 'farewell' to Mr Hopkins, which must have helped comfort his relatives in some small way. While it won't bring him back, it must be good to know he will be kept alive in so many people's memories.

I have no connection with the family and didn't know the young man myself, but I was moved by their testimonials and through your letters page I would like to pass on my every sympathy at their loss.
