Magic way to help

A VALE magician has offered Penarth's Primary Schools his services to raise money for the tragic victims of the Beslan massacre.

Peter Hopkins is a children's entertainer. He was so moved by the scenes in Russia he wants to help the parents and relatives of the tragic village.

He said: "I want to do five or six performances in primary schools in the town.

"The children could give £1 each for the show. This could be quite a few hundred pounds to go to the Red Cross who I will donate the money to." There were dozens of children killed in the Beslan school by terrorists which made headlines world wide.

Mr Hopkins, 35, is father of an 11-year-old girl. He has raised money before, for Ty Hafan.

He said: "I have put the idea to other magicians and I hope they will all do the same. I can do the shows over the next few weeks so I ask people to contact me as soon as possible."

The British Red Cross has launched an appeal. Money raised will be used to fund activities supporting survivors and the families of the victims. Any primary school interested in a magic show can email Mr Hocus Pocus on www.wizard-entertainments.co.uk.
