CD Review - Darren Hayes

SAVAGE Garden vocalist Darren Hayes was determined not to let the dissolving of his band ruin his career, and he's held on to that resolve in incredible style. His new album The Tension and the Spark is a very well-crafted musical offering.

There are no soppy, overly sentimental tracks like the stunningly haunting Truly, Madly, Deeply but songs like Darkness and Dublin Sky are just as esoteric.

He's already released Darkness and if there was to be a choice, I Like The Way would be a definite contender for the second single. It's earthy beat and honest lyrics (it seems to discuss sexual attraction without the warmth of love) really draws the listener in.

This album offers a little of everything without the sugary pop some of today's music offers.

If you want a deep album with some danceable tracks and some that just make you think, indulge in a bit of Darren Hayes and buy this album.
