EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of October 26, 1979:

Penarth's Cycling Proficiency Champion-ship winners, Ceri Ridd (senior schools winner), Rachel Frost (junior schools winner), and Madeleine Pearn (overall champion), received their awards at the County presentation ceremony at South Glamorgan County Headquarters, Cardiff, last Saturday, from Cllr Gwyn Thomas.

The rules governing the transfer of council tenants should be made more flexible, the Vale Housing Committee decided.

Members of Penarth Labour Party will take part in a demonstration against the South African rugby tour in Newport tomorrow (Saturday).

Eddie Rabaiotti owner of the Caprice Restaurant, at Penarth Esplanade, recently visited Worcester Royal Porcelain Factory at Worcester, to see for himself how some of Worcester's products are made.

Cadet Corporal David Phipps, of 1148 ATC Squadron, has just earned his Gliding Proficiency Wings, an achievement not seen in the Penarth Squadron for the last 10 years.

Victoria Williams, of Victoria School, entertained with a recitation at the recent Schools Concert, held at the Paget Rooms.
