EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of November 16, 1979:

l A popular visitor with Penarth children last Saturday was Snoopy, in town to inspect The Doghouse, Windsor Road, following the completion of the recent improvements to the shop.

l Plans are being made to give next year's Holiday Festival a new look and the future of the traditional fireworks display and donkey derby are being reviewed.

l Penarth Yacht Club has now been listed as a building of special architectural and historical interest, the Town Council was told.

l Police are investigating two local burglaries in which more than 25,000 worth of property was stolen last weekend.

l Llandough and Leckwith Branch of the Royal British Legion held their annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service last Sunday.

l Lance Cooksey, of Dinas Powis a member of Penarth ABC and a pupil of St Cyres Schools boxed at his brilliant best when outpointing Eamon Considine in the International between Wales and England Schoolboys at Hastings last Saturday.
