A SCHEME which will help and encourage people in the Vale of Glamorgan to keep fit and have fun in a relaxed and friendly environment has been launched with a successful week of events.
Venues across the area hosted a range of 'Active for Life' activities which included walks with the Valeways organisation, swimming and exercise classes and free health assessments.
Llancarfan Community Centre was the first venue to provide health assessment sessions and members of the 'Active for Life' team, in partnership with Lifestyle Health and Fitness personnel, investigated a range of factors which might identify a person's risk of developing heart disease.
The scheme is funded through the Big Lottery Fund, and Vale Cabinet Member (Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure) Cllr Michael Harvey said: 'We were delighted to introduce these mobile assessments and look forward to promoting 'Active for Life' throughout the Vale and working with those people who need help and advice to increase their activity levels.'
