Bears battle to a tight victory

PENARTH Bears travelled to Bath to play good friends and rivals Bath Lacrosse Club. Playing anU16 match Penarth were able to field 14-year-oldAdam Wood to give a little bulk to the 13 and under players.

As usual it was an exciting and close game. Penarth opened the score with Bath following goal for goal and the half time score was 3-3.

Due to Penarth's lack of a goalkeeper two players took it in turn. Sam Morgans had the first half and did well, with 11-year-old face man Rhys Hill taking over at the half time break.

Thanks to Adam, the Bears went 2 goals up in the 3rd, with Bath scoring just once to take a valuable goal lead at the final quarter.

Bath, always strong to finish, were making a determined effort to take the match. It was goal for goal in the final period with everyone playing at their best. New player Luke Midgley had a good game in his first match and showed tremendous promise.

The play reached fever pitch with the Bears still one goal ahead, being pressurised hard by their opponents, but the whistle went with Bath scoring just after. The game was Penarth's, and the final score was Penarth Bears 7,Bath 6.

This was a delightful performance with man of the match Adam Woodscoring all 7 goals, a great addition to give that extraweight to drive through the opposition. The club is looking forward to the rematch in Penarth some time in December.

Team members: Adam Wood, Ceri Hill, Luke Midgley, Harvey Clarke, Karim Rhobani, Rhys Penry- Williams, Rhys Hill, Myles Case, Callum Price, Jonny Morris,Sam Morgans, Cormac O'Keefe.
