THE PILOT and the Coro Club big guns met last Friday for a darts match that produced 30 tons and overs but eventually came down to who would hit the winning double in the last leg of the evening.
That honour went to Coro captain Dennis deClaire to settle the match at 6-5 in their favour. The Coro took the first two pairs with Ian hitting x16 after Alan scored a ton. Kav took the next on x14 after Matthew also hit a ton. Elvis and Jack pulled a point back for the Pilot with Jack hitting 120 100 and Elvis 100 100 x2. The Coro were cruising taking the first two singles with Alan 100 100 x20 and Ian 100 x8. The Pilot decided to up the pace at this point and that man Elvis led the way again to take the first of the Pilot's four singles scoring 140 100 x16. Rob hit x17, John hit 140 x5 and Kevin scored three tons x1 to take the last singles and put the Pilot ahead at 5-4. But the Coro regained the initiative taking both three-a-side legs with Alan 140 100 x20 and Ian 125 followed by Matthew 140, Derek 121 and Dennis with the all important x20 to steal the match.
The Cons proved too much for the Cogan as they overwhelmed them by seven points to four. Rob started things off for the Cons with x1 followed by Paul with x20. Julia hit back for the Cogan with x8. The Cons went on to take three singles through Simon 100 x9, Steve x10 and Paul x20. The Cogan also won three singles with Russ 140 x6, Mitch 100 x1 and a rare visit from the dangerous one who hit x4. The Cons went on to win both three-a-side legs with Rob 140 x13 after Rob Junior hit 100. Rich hit the last double of the evening x2 to take the match at 7-4. The Ex's played home to the Legion and managed to take good advantage of a depleted Legion side of only four players, the Legion started well taking the first two pairs with Les 121 x8 after Dave hit 100 and Martin 140 x20 taking the next, the third leg was a walkover, the Ex's won the first four singles through Will 100 x16, Geoff x4, John 100 10 x4 and Martin 125 10 x1. The next two legs were also walkovers for the Ex's, the Legion only played one three-a-side which they won with Davie hitting 100 x8 after Les hut 140. The last point was a walkover for the Ex's to take the final score to 8-3 in their favour.
