Memories from 25 years ago

EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of November 30, 1979:

* Three special centenary events during the next week mean a hectic but enjoyable programme for Penarth Rugby Club followers.

* There are still hopes that a purpose-built leisure centre could be provided in Penarth within the next two or three years.

* The schoolchildren of Dinas Powis who have been busy raising funds for the Blue Peter Cambodian Appeal by selling balloons over the past couple of week's have achieved excellent results.

* A very successful Christingle Service was held at St Augustine's Church last Sunday when more than 200 children came forward to receive their Christingles.

* An assurance has been given that the Belle Vue Park bowling green will be ready for the start of next season, and the club will not have to delay the start of their fixture programme.
