Take Pride

I FELT I had to respond to your article on page three of last week's Penarth Times concerning Prisks' sweet shop closing down and the pedestrianisation of Glebe Street being blamed as one of the principal causes of the shop's decline.

While the Vale Council's decision to pedestrianise Glebe Street may have been foolhardy, I feel that the main reason Prisks' shop has failed to thrive is more to do with the fact that the shop has been appallingly maintained during the last 22 years and has been a complete eyesore in Glebe Street for all of that time.

I hope that whoever has taken on the premises will take more pride in its appearance than the previous owners.
