Spiderman 2

Spider-Man 2 picks up where the original film left off and is a fantastic sequel.

This time, Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is allowed to show the human side, and therefore the more difficult bits, of being a superhero - only touched on in the first movie.

Standing in the way of world peace is Dr Otto Octavius (Doc Ock) a brilliant scientist whose fusion experiment goes awry at a demonstration Peter attends, and the effects are spectacular.

Not afraid to go full nine yards, this movie is the definitive comic book adaptation, with action, drama, comedy, and a moral message that comes across without being too pious.

Director Sam Raimi has hit the nail on the head this time and leaves the door wide open for film number three.

And comic artist Alex Ross' paintings spliced in the opening credits, entailing the events of the first film, is a great opening to a great flick.
