IN THEIR third season of mini football, Sully Dragons under-10s have come to life.
Their hard work in training has been transformed into positive results on the field.
Up to the mid-season break, the Dragons had won 13 out of their 14 games, scoring 67 goals and conceding only 16. This season's success has been built on an excellent all-round team effort, with all members of the squad, which is rotated on a weekly basis, contributing in full.
In defence, goalkeeper Jordan Ferriday has been at his acrobatic best to regularly keep opponents at bay.
And Josh Ackland has totally justified his selection for the Vale of Glamorgan development squad, with some exceptional performances at the heart of the defence.
Versatile Adam Tucker and Connor Kavanagh (five goals) have both added strength and determination to the team, playing successfully in both defence and midfield on regular occasions.
The solid base created by the defence has allowed midfielders, Morgan Harris Inness (two goals), Callum Blunt and Adam Jones to win enough possession to allow the Dragons to play a more attacking game this year.
Midfield domination in most games has allowed wingers Elliott McAndrew (five goals) and James Chaffey (11 goals) to use their skill and speed to set up many attacking situations and score vital goals by following up on shots by other team members.
Excellent team passing has in turn created the opportunities for the deadly Dragons' attacking duo, new signing Rob Jones (21 goals) and young Max Bramhill (25 goals), to use their natural finishing instincts to full effect.
The confidence of the whole team has been lifted by the skills of the front two, who have regularly found the back of the net at vital times during games.
Having set an excellent benchmark in the first half of the season, coaches Fraser Blunt and Mike McAndrew hope the boys can continue their excellent form and team spirit.
Thanks is due to all parents, brothers and sisters for their attendance and support at all games, and also to Woodham Bros Ltd and Tarmac National Contracting for again sponsoring new kit and training jackets.
