Dedication rewarded by confidence in class by confidence in class

A STUDY group is celebrating 10 years of helping children with their mathematical and English skills.

The Penarth and Barry Kumon Study Centre has classes in both areas, and offers students the chance to improve not only their skills but their concentration levels.

Over the 10 years, founder of the group Erica Austin has helped more than 500 students through their exams.

Mrs Austin said: "Following the programme brings increased confidence in the key skills of mathematics and English.

"The group also helps to develop good concentration, which has an effect on pupils' school work.

"It always gives me great pleasure when a student tells me that they have been moved up a set in school or that they came first in a test.

"The children's success is down to the dedication and interest of the Penarth and Barry parents who have supported the centre over the past 10 years."

Kumon Education UK has more than 40,000 students across the country.

The groups concentrate on core skills such as counting, tables, fractions and algebra in maths, and spelling, grammar, punctuation and comprehension in English.

Mrs Austin said: "I am greatly looking forward to the next 10 years."
