Building

LOOKING at the absurd height of the gherkin development, perhaps an old developers' trick is at work.

The first planning application asks for extreme dimensions - this is expected to be rejected.

The second planning application would be of a reduced height which perhaps protesters and councils will accept as the lesser of the two evils.

Be warned and reject all ghastly gherkins - big and not quite so big.

The restored Victorian dock offices are magnificent and were saved from demolition. I'm sure the Victorian block next to it could also be saved and developed for commerce.

These buildings have a history, presence and stature which should and must be preserved. They are in fact irreplaceable.
