Buildings

I WAS surprised and disappointed in your published response to the letter entitled 'Coincidences' in the February 3 issue.

You must be aware of the way that some developers' operate. Their sole purpose in life is to make money. This has, in the past, led to wholesale destruction of some really outstanding Victorian buildings and the erection of fairly horrendous flats, nursing homes etc.

Planning approval, building regulations and public opinion mean nothing to these people, hence the veiled threat of withdrawal and relocation should anyone stand in their way.

I very much suspect that your original report with 'artist's impression' (that's a laugh when you notice 'Chandlers' on one of the windows) was merely a press release.

What your respondent did, you could have done in a matter of minutes. It's the essence of investigative reporting and that should be your job.

Editor says: I am sure you will agree that a £6 million development in Penarth is news', whatever readers' private views on such a proposal or the people involved may be. We were the first to bring you this news, and no Mr Evans, the report was not a press release'.
