BATS give schoolkids a helping hand

ALBERT Primary School children are delighted to be given a grant - from a group of children even younger than themselves.

The Baby and Toddler Support (BATS) group offers a friendly atmosphere for parents of pre-school children - and helps raise money through coffee mornings and bring-and-buy sales.

The group offers the funds in the shape of grants to projects involving pre-school children.

When Albert Primary found out about BATS, they filled in the simple application form for help to finance the purchase and fitting of outdoor play equipment for the nursery children.

And they were thrilled when BATS chairwoman Melissa Edmunds came back to them with an offer of 500.

Early Years Co-ordinator Mrs Lewis said: "We were so pleased with the simplicity of the process. We filled in the form and were told within a very short space of time we'd been successful."
