THE controversial road narrowing in Sully will soon be removed.
Cllrs Sarah Sharpe and Anthony Ernest, ward members for Sully and Lavernock, have both welcomed the news that the local authority is preparing plans to take away the chicane outside the Post Office on South Road.
After campaigning for this work to be carried out for some time, the council representatives are delighted that progress has been made at last.
Cllr Sharpe said: "This has been a bone of contention for motorists from Sully and beyond for several years.
"Motorists are so keen to get through the narrowing that they do not pay attention to pedestrians on the crossing.
"It's amazing that no-one has been hurt."
Cllr Ernest added: "Local residents have had to wait for more than 10 years for funds to be made available to remove the chicane, which was originally installed by the former South Glamorgan authority.
"We have campaigned to have the crossing opened up, so as to eliminate the risks to drivers passing through Sully and the many pedestrians who have to use this busy crossing.
