Masts

I REFER to an article in last week's Times regarding the proposed erection of mobile phone masts on RS Smith Cars' premises on Windsor Road.

I have subsequently found that previous planning permission was granted and that there are already two masts on the roof of the premises.

It is widely known about the possible dangers of mobile phone masts: constant microwave energy is given off, and the chances of cancer or other dangers to health caused by living close to these ionising masts is still not known.

In 20 years time we will know if there is a problem, but that will be too late.

I say stop the proliferation of these sites in residential areas until safety can be absolutely assured.

Get behind local petitions and do write to planning offices with objections.

Regarding companies allowing phone operators to use their sites and getting a nice little annual rental in the process, all I can say is if they don't care about the environment, what about their customers? Vote with your feet.
