A CHARITY football match will be played in memory of a 16-year-old St Cyres pupil who died in a car crash.
Kyle John Smith, from Wenvoe, was a popular teenager and the tributes poured in after his death in February.
He died after the car he was travelling in hit the central reservation on the A4232 Ely Link Road.
He was studying for his A-levels at St Cyres and was heading for a university place. He wanted to become a cabinet maker.
Kyle's mum Angela Smith said: "Kyle loved sport so we thought it would be a good idea to have the match. He played football and golf.
"He also loved clay pigeon shooting - he took part in a competition with 1,500 others and managed to get into the last ten. He started that sport because of his dad.
"The loss of Kyle has left a major hole in our family.
"He was such a thoughtful lad. He was always thinking of others."
The match will be at Ely Rangers' ground in Wenvoe on Sunday, April 17 at 2pm.
It will cost 1 to go along on the day and all the money raised will be donated to the Noah's Ark appeal, for the Children's Hospital of Wales.
Owner of the ground Graham Clark has let the teams play free of charge.
