Shock over death

THE family and fianc of a 33-year-old Penarth woman who collapsed and died while walking home after a night out have spoken of their'complete shock'.

Lorraine Butters, of Heol Treforys, spent last Friday evening at a party at Penarth Rugby Club organised by the Waverley Care Centre where she worked as a senior carer in the EMI department.

She collapsed in the early of hours of Saturday while walking home along Lavernock Road with her fiance Keith Magorimbo.

Lorraine's cousin Jayson Pugh said: "This has come as a complete shock to the family.

"Lorraine had never suffered with ill-health and was perfectly fit and healthy.

"It is tragic because she was due to marry Keith later this year - she even had her wedding dress, and I know they were very keen to start a family."

Lorraine's distraught fianc Keith, aged 33, said: "Lorraine will be remembered as a loving, giving person who always had time for people.

"She touched the hearts of everyone she met but most of all mine.

"She will be sorely missed by her many friends, her colleagues and the residents of the Waverley Care Centre.

"I would like to thank the people in the houses on Lavernock Road that night who answered my cries for help and came to Lorraine's aid.

"Thanks too to the three strangers who also helped us.

"I would also like to express my deep gratitude to the ambulance team who attended, to South Wales Police, and to the staff at Llandough hospital for their tireless efforts to save Lorraine."

Lorraine grew up and went to school in Caerphilly.

She moved to Penarth eight years ago.

Lorraine also leaves her father Richard Butters, who lives in St Athan, and three brothers, Paul, aged 37, David, aged 39, and Allan, aged 35.

George Moore, owner of the Waverley Care Centre, said: "We are all absolutely devastated by the news.

"Lorraine was such a kind, caring person who was loved by everyone.
