Jeweller accused of theft

A PROMINENT Penarth jeweller appeared before Barry magistrates yesterday charged with the theft of 120,000 from a 93-year-old woman.

Gary Riggs, aged 43, of Mariner's Reach, Lynmouth Drive, Sully, is alleged to have stolen the money between January 1 and February 22 this year.

Mr Riggs is the owner of Band of Gold on Windsor Terrace in Penarth.

The case has been adjourned until April 27. Mr Riggs was granted conditional bail.
