GRANGE QUINS 2 SULLY SPORTS 1
(after extra time)
THE South Wales FA Youth Cup Final at Leckwith Stadium was a credit to the Youth League.
Sully Sports were missing the league"s top scorer Drew Fahiya, still recovering from a serious leg injury.
The defences in general were on top, with the excellent Hynam for Quins and Domencio for Sports outstanding.
Daniel Brown had his best game for the club as he strove to carve openings for forwards Tom Dalton and Marcus Madden.
And Josh Bell was superb running at the Quins and creating some good chances.
Both teams missed several half chances but half-time saw the teams level.
Within minutes of the restart Sports were behind as a good move from Quins was expertly finished.
This spurred Sully on and substitute Chung went close after a fine through ball, before hitting the post.
Sports were rewarded when Joe Hinds hammered past a static defence.
Both teams fought it out until extra time, and with strong tackling (Jones and Anstee battled for every ball) Sports fancied their chances.
Jamie Barnett and keeper Ashley Hart drove the team on as tired legs took over on both sides. Just as penalties looked certain a telling centre deflected past a stranded keeper to give Quins the cup.
The teams will meet again to decide the league title with Sports completing their season home to third place Splott Albion
SULLY VETS 5
COGAN 1
The Vets" run of good form continued in the Vale Senior League Division 2 with a 5-1 win over Cogan and a deserved draw against Alpha Airports, with top scorer Dan Cooper again on the scoresheet.
The club sends its best wishes to Craig Ryan and Nathan Shaw who have both suffered broken bones while playing for the club recently.
