RE Miss Gwyneth M White (November 12, 1910 - January 10, 2004)
We wish to thank the Penarth Times, who carried the tribute to Miss White on January 13, 2005, from which I quote:
"Her Daddy was a keen supporter of the paddle steamer service in the Bristol Channel. Gwyneth had a season ticket before the age of ten, and went on every possible voyage from 1919 to 2004. Friends received postcards from either the Balmoral or from Lundy Island from each voyage.
"She was presented with a ticket for life by Terry Sylvester and was first off the vessel when it tied up at the new Lundy Island pier. Lundy was a holy of holies for her but her descriptions of voyages to and fro are nearly as visual as her appreciation of the island.
"At 94 years old, Gwyneth had been the chairman of Penarth Past Oral History Group almost all the time it has existed, and she also enjoyed membership of the Penarth Society."
Her many friends and neighbours are invited to join us on June 13 when we take Gwyneth"s ashes to Lundy on the Waverley.
Rev Lance Cook, the chaplain from Llandough Hospital, who knew her and who also has his own connections to Lundy because of his RAF service at Chivenor, will be leading a small service of thanksgiving for her long and very full life.
This is not a "black tie" funeral, but a celebration.
Anybody who knew and loved her is welcome, but if you want me to get your tickets, I will happily do so.
