End-of-war celebrations

IT has been decided that Sunday, July 10 will be designated as the day for the celebration of the end of World War II.

The Royal British Legion in Penarth will be holding a service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at All Saints Church.

The service will start at 11am and will be followed by a buffet at the club, with a pianist to entertain.

There will be no parade - we will just meet at the church and after the service walk back to the club.

To give us some idea as to how much food we will require, we would be grateful if you could put your name on the list on the branch notice board in the club if you would like food.

On Saturday, July 23 we will be holding a Dinner Dance with disco music at the Masonic Hall, Stanwell Road, Penarth, at 7pm for 7.30pm, at a modest cost to members of 12 and non-members of 14.

If you are interested in this event call at the club and add your name to the list on the club notice board just inside the front door.

We hope that as many people as possible will join in these celebrations of an event which was of such huge importance to those who lived through those turbulent times.

All Veterans and non-members are welcome.
