Asbestos

I AM writing in response to the article printed on asbestos (Penarth Times, May 26).

I agree with the Vale Council officers in that extensive tests need to be carried out before any decision is made.

As I am aware asbestos is a killer.

I lost my husband almost five years ago, aged just 59, to asbestos mesothelioma.

Also the public should be better informed on what they should do if they come into contact with asbestos and should they be diagnosed with cancer that is linked with asbestos.

They should get advice on claiming compensation either from their employer"s insurance company, or if that is not possible then from the government.

I hope you will continue to let people know about the asbestos.
