Booze fears

WITH reference to your article in last week's Penarth Times about the Railway Public House requesting extended licensing hours until late Thursday to Saturday.

As a resident of that area I, and I'm sure many other residents, am totally against this.

The noise we have to tolerate in the upper end of Plymouth Road/Stanwell Road at weekends is appalling, especially as our bedrooms are at the front.

It is worse in the summer with the beer garden more in use. Sometimes at weekends the noise does not die down until the early hours.

If the opening is extended, we will have it until 2am to 3am.

When the pub closes there are often fights, customers hang around, throwing bottles into our garden and using it as a toilet, swearing and shouting.

Then we have police car sirens.

And then the bottle bins outside are sometimes emptied at dawn by the bin men!

I hope the Vale Licensing Committee will refuse this request and think about the residents who have to lose a great deal of sleep from the patrons of this public house.
