Not all doom and gloom for Windsor club

ON Tuesday, the Windsor Ladies III team were at home to Whitchurch IV.

The Windsor team, Yvonne Gimber, Babs Dawes, Gwenda Davies, Alice Randall, Steph Rees and Erin O"Doherty, battled hard and the match was finely balanced throughout the evening.

After six matches had been played the teams were even, both having won three matches.

Sadly, Whitchurch just edged the victory on count back, having won seven sets to Windsor"s six.

The Ladies" first team travelled to Cowbridge on Sunday, but encountered a team looking for revenge after Windsor had beaten them earlier in the season.

After two rounds, the match was evenly poised at three matches apiece.

But the Windsor team of Kay Clarke, Avril Morgan, Gill Latham, Linda Ellis, Margaret Richmond and Bethan Pilcher could only manage one win out of the last three matches and went down overall by five matches to four.

However, thanks to the second and fourth teams, all was not doom and gloom.

The Windsor Ladies second team was in sparkling form on Friday evening.

Team members Jane Williams, Margaret Morgan, Elaine Newton, Diane Chisnall, Ann Davies and Gill Wood registered a comprehensive victory against Barry Ladies by six matches to nil.

The second team have only lost one match so far during the season and are vying for promotion at the end of summer.

Meanwhile, the Windsor Ladies IV team travelled to Pentyrch and recorded their first win of the season.

Team captain Sian Owen, supported by Beth Randall, Claire Milward, Edwina Gill, Jill Halpin, and Chris Dunn, showed that all their practice and perseverance had paid off and defeated Pentyrch by five matches to one.
