FUNDRAISERS from the Ty Hafan Children's hospice smashed the world record for the world longest scarf at the Millennium Stadium last week.
The multi-coloured Doctor Who-style scarf covered the pitch completely - and measured an incredible 33 miles in length.
The old record stood at 20 miles. The campaign which has been running for the last three years has enlisted the help of knitters from all over Wales.
They have also helped to raise a magnificent 60,000 in sponsorship to help the hospice continue its vital work with children who suffer from life-limiting conditions and their families. The scarf itself was officially handed over to Brian Main, Chief Executive of Feed the Children, before being re-rolled. It will now be made into blankets.
Ty Hafan The Children's Hospice in Wales provides respite, palliative and end-of-life care to children who suffer from conditions which mean they will not reach adulthood, and is dedicated to providing care and support for the whole family.
The hospice opened in January 1999 and was built and equipped by public donations at a cost of 3 million.
This year it will cost 2 million to maintain this service which is provided free to those families in Wales who need its help and support.
