Ladies find mixed form

BELLE Vue Ladies Bowling Club have had an interesting and varied couple of weeks, winning two of their four matches.

Their first game, against Romilly, was a real nail-biter played at home on a sunny afternoon with the green playing at a nice medium pace.

The Joan Castle rink just lost by one shot, but Kay Dyers' rink managed to keep ahead by eight shots and gain two valuable points.

Result: Belle Vue 2 points, Barry Romilly 1 point.

On Thursday, June 9, the ladies travelled to Cowbridge to play the league game. The ladies did their best, but were out-bowled by their friendly hosts and lost on all three rinks, this time taking no points to add to their tally.

Result: Belle Vue nil, Cowbridge 10.

The ladies played away at the Murch on June 14 in the two-rink Cadoxton Shield.

The green was running nicely and Belle Vue won on one rink and lost on the other. Just losing the match by three shots overall, so gaining one point.

Result: Belle Vue 1 point, Murch 2 points. The last game was at home against their pals from Rectory Road.

Though this was a Cadoxton Shield game it was more like a friendly as all the players bowl together throughout the winter months.

However, Belle Vue, with their home advantage, won well on both rinks and gained another three points.

Result: Jacky Regan, Peggy Hill, Val Eley, Pat Small 20-11; Joan Castle, Marjorie Thomas, June Williams, Kay Dyer 20-14.

Belle Vue three points, Rectory Road nil points.
