Lesson stirs war memories

A GROUP of four veterans of World War II paid a visit to Albert Primary School to tell the children all about how it felt to be a young person in a country at war and to serve in the forces.

After they had told about their adventures and hardships, a question and answer session took place, at which the children showed great enthusiasm and interest.

The visitors were then invited into the hall where the assembled pupils sang some of the favourite songs of the period, which they are learning for the end of WW2 party they are holding at the school next month.

The veterans had a most enjoyable time and if the joyful quality of the singing was anything to go by, a good time was had by all.
