THE LAST two weeks have seen a variety of results for Belle Vue Ladies, drawing two matches, winning one and losing one.
The first of these was away at the Windsor club and the ladies were hoping to make up for their disappointing nil point result against Windsor the previous week.
The match was the two rink Cadoxton Shield, and after bowling for two and a half-hours in almost unbearable heat, the outcome was a dead draw, giving both teams one and a half points each. The next match was the Vale league, away at Barry Central, a very pleasant afternoon, and the green was playing beautifully.
The match was very tight with the result in the balance until the very last bowl and ended up with 55 shots all, another dead draw.
Result:
Jayne Edwards, Peggy Hill, Pat Small, Daisy Wallace 15-18
Joan Castle, Marjorie Thomas, Val Eley, June Williams 22-22
Ann Lampert, Kene Grenville, Kay Dyer, Adah John 18-15
Belle Vue 5 points- Barry Central 5 points
The ladies played at home on July 19 in the very pretty Belle Vue Park, which has deservedly won the Green Flag award.
This time the visitors were Barry Plastics playing the Cadoxton Shield. Kay Dyers rink won by a decisive 11 shots, and Pat Smalls rink won by the skin of their teeth by one shot so gaining a maximum of three points.
On July 21 Barry Plastics returned to Belle Vue to play the Vale League and this time out bowled the ladies on every rink, earning themselves ten points and leaving Belle Vue with nothing.
However, a nice plus for the club is that Adah and Pat have won their way through to the section final in the Glamorgan Pairs competition.
* Belle Vue really needs more bowlers, and the club has coaches who would help any inexperienced players.
