Nine receive Duke of Edinburgh awards

NINE young people from Penarth Youth Project Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme group received their silver award certificates and badges.

Dave Golding, the Vale of Glamorgan Duke of Edinburgh awards officer, presented the certificates at a presentation evening at the Info Shop.

Parents and volunteers attended the evening, which celebrated the achievements of the young people who had successfully completed all four sections of the awards scheme - service, skill, sport and expedition.

They organised a quiz night in aid of the local charity Face Up and raised £200.

The expedition section, delivered by the Duke of Edinburgh leaders, included first-aid training, map-reading, walking, a camp at the Gower and an expedition in the Wye Valley.

Staff at the Penarth Youth Project congratulate all involved.
