WINDSOR LTC was a hive of activity last week, as the annual Windsor Junior Closed Tournament took place.
Box matches were played out at the beginning of the week, culminating with the semi-finals and finals on Thursday and Friday.
All competitors played lots of tennis and gained valuable competitive experience.
All the matches were played in the friendliest of spirit, even the closest of contests.
The youngest members of the club were also included in this special junior week and had their own special mini event played out on Wednesday.
The longest final was the U10 mixed doubles, where Alisha Masani and Henry Young recovered from losing the second set on a tie-break to win the third set on a tie break and take the title.
The final of the U18 boys' singles was between Tom Sidford and Daniel Owen.
Both boys produced some spectacular tennis, with Tom just edging out Daniel 7-5, 6-3.
The last match of the tournament was the U18 mixed doubles.
Tom Cole and his partner Bethan Pilcher raced away with the first set, but in the second set, Tom Sidford and Steph Rees found their best form and took the set 6-4.
Tom and Bethan then established a 5-2 lead in the deciding set, but Tom and Steph regrouped and clawed their way back into the match, eventually leading by six games to five.
However, Tom and Bethan were not to be beaten - they took the match into a deciding tiebreak, which they won by seven points to four.
The match was a fitting finale to an excellent junior tournament.
In a change to previous years, the club will be organising a special presentation evening in September, when all the trophies and cups will be awarded to the finalists.
The club would like to say a big thank you to all the parents and club members who gave so freely of their time and expertise over the five days of the tournament.
Their help in the kitchen, in the tuck shop, with court supervision, organising matches and in many other ways too numerous to mention, was invaluable and appreciated by all the competitors.
