Pub is 'top dog' in summer

A POPULAR Penarth watering hole has been dubbed as one of the best places in the country to devour burgers and hot dogs al fresco.

Landlady Ainslie Davies was ecstatic when she discovered the Railway Hotel on Plymouth Road had been listed among the top 100 barbecue pubs UK-wide in a new book.

According to Burnt Sausages and Perfect Pimms, the Penarth pub was chosen for its combination of tasty chargrilled offerings, great location and friendly staff.

Ainslie said: "Finding out that we are one of the 100 best barbecue pubs in the country is really great! And it's especially nice for the staff to have all their hard work recognised.

"People just love abarbecue in the summer months, and due to our value for money, people are just coming here to have it all done for them."

Candice Burton, senior manager for Pimms, said: "As much fun as it is to hold your own barbecue, there always comes a time when it is nice to have someone else do all of the work.

Burnt Sausages and Perfect Pimms also contains an insight into what the Royals like to indulge in at barbecues, tips for what to eat and drink, and a smattering of history about the great British culinary tradition.
