A LOTTERY grant looks set to improve the social lives of tenants at a Cogan sheltered housing complex.
Overjoyed residents at Gwyn James Court secured a fantastic £2,375 from the National Lottery"s Awards for All scheme.
They intend to spend the money on their already prize-winning garden, plus a state-of-the-art computer and a number of day trips.
The complex"s tenants association worked closely with housing association Newydd"s development team to obtain the grant.
Julie Glass, Newydd scheme co-ordinator, said: "This is the first large grant to be awarded to Gwyn James Court tenants association, and will help develop the confidence and capacity for future success.
"It"s really fantastic news. Everyone at the complex is really excited by the prospect of using the new computer equipment. It will make a huge difference to the social lives of the residents."
Resident and keen gardener Pauline Crossman, aged 69, said: "I think it is wonderful. It has definitely given us a helping hand in getting the things we want, such as a new shed for the garden and plants for next year.
"And I"m really looking forward to the computer course."
