Lloyd selected to face Rest of World

SULLY Centurions" 21-year-old all-rounder Lloyd Smith has been selected to play for Matthew Maynard"s Wales Select XI in the former Glamorgan and England batsman"s testimonial match.

The game will be played against the Rest of the World XI at Sophia Gardens on Monday, August 15 and will include stars such as Rahul Dravid and Viv Richards.

Maynard selected Lloyd, of Marloes Close, Barry, from a list of more than 20 club cricketers who were nominated in a newspaper competition. Maynard said of his choice: "Lloyd has shown some outstanding form in the last couple of years.

"If he does well you just don"t know what it could do for him."

Lloyd said he was privileged to be asked to play with such great players.
