BOTH PENARTH comprehensive schools produced excellent A Level results again this year with some remarkable individual performances.
At St Cyres, 83 students passed the Advanced Diploma of the Welsh Baccalaureate - the equivalent of an A Grade A-level pass.
This meant that the school achieved results far surpassing any it has attained in the past.
The 127 students gained no fewer than 163 A grades with an overall pass rate of 97 percent.
And 78 percent of results achieved were at grades A to C.
At Stanwell the percentage of A grades achieved was the highest ever at 37 percent.
The head of sixth form at Stanwell, Mr Relph, said: "We are delighted that so many pupils achieved the grades they required to go to university."
The top Stanwell student was Sophie Stephens who achieved a remarkable six A grade A-levels.
Joshua Barnes, James Bradbury, Megan Boot, Rhiannon Elias, Andrew Firth, Emily Penn and Carys Esseen all gained five A grade A-levels.
Emily Penn, who gained A grade passes in Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Art and General Studies, will study architecture at Cambridge.
Emily said: "I am delighted. It is such a relief that it all went well."
Carys Esseen is off to Warwick to study literature and film.
She said: "I don"t have a long-term plan, I"ll take it as it comes. My results did surprise me but I did work very hard."
Rhiannon Elias, who got her As in Maths, Chemistry, English, French and General Studies, has a place at Nottingham University to study Economics and French.
At St Cyres, Jordan Andrews, Stevie Beddoe, Ben Peregrine, Matthew Skermer, Caroline Stewart, Emma Stingl and Daniel Wiggins all gained 4 A grade A-levels.
Katherine Gronow, Elin Griffiths, Thomas Foster, Rhys Gambold, Mark Hughes, Nicola John, Lewis Jones, Rhys Langdon, Hollie Palmer, Laura Sutton, Richard Morris and Matthew Roberts all got three A grade passes.
And the year, AS level results at St Cyres also showed a significant improvement on previous years - with 27 percent at A grade and 69 per cent at A-C.
