Talented Gavin blows his own trumpet!

A PENARTH musician is hoping to make it big with the release of his band"s new single - which has been getting airplay on Radio One.

Gavin Fitzjohn chose an alternative career path after completing his A-levels at Stanwell Comprehensive School, joining Cardiff band Adequate Seven.

Their first release single has already been given the approval of a number of BBC Radio One DJs.

Splitting Up has been played on several Radio One shows, including Zane Lowe, The Lock Up and Lamacq Live, and was even Zane Lowe"s "hottest record in the world."

Penarth-born Gavin is the band"s trumpet player.

Adequate Seven, who produce a mix of funk and punk, have signed a one album deal with London based label Household Name Records.

Their debut album was released in February 2002 and was described by Kerrang magazine as "one of the most vital debuts of the year."

Since then, they have toured the UK and mainland Europe, playing with acts like Cypress Hill, A and even Kelly Osborne, building up a loyal fanbase along the way. At the end of 2004, Adequate Seven signed a deal with Audio Rehab, part of the Ryder Music company, and started work with producer Bob Sargeant.

The single Splitting Up hits the shops on Monday, August 29.

The band recently played at the Cardiff Compass Point Festival and are back in Cardiff on October 16 with a gig at Barfly. More information on the band is available at www.adequate7. co.uk
