Flying start for children

THE VALE of Glamorgan Council's Sure Start service has launched a new support network for parents of twins and triplets.

The project - which aims to give local children a flying start in life - is holding weekly drop-in sessions every Wednesday for mums and dads with multiple children!

From 1.30pm to 3pm, parents and their children can drop in to the Buttrills Community Centre in Barry to access help and advice from Sure Start staff and to meet other families with twins and triplets.

While parents are chatting, the children can take part in a range of creative activities including finger painting, making textured pictures from sand, and song and rhyme sessions.

Antonia Bridges, Sure Start Programme Co-ordinator, said: "The group is warm and friendly, with lots of activities and the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends."

The group - which only meets during term-time - already has nine sets of twins and one set of triplets.
