A CASE of the deadly E-coli 0157 bug has been confirmed in a 12-year-old child attending Stanwell School in Penarth.
The boy is believed to be at home, and has not been hospitalised.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has written to all Stanwell parents although the authority is stressing it has "no reason to believe the infection was contracted directly from the school."
The number of cases in South Wales has reached 122, though health officials say they believe the outbreak has peaked.
It is believed that the source of the bacterium was a Bridgend supplier of cooked meats.
The Council has told parents: "E-coli 0157 can be picked up from a number of places, and Environmental Health Officers from the Vale are working with the parents of the infected child, the Outbreak Control Team and doctors to identify the source of the infection.
