Mum joins select group

A YOUNG mother from Penarth has been selected to join a hand-picked Welsh delegation at a major business conference.

Sarah Edwards is the business development director of Cardiff-based IT company Capital Network Solutions, who specialise in network design, installation and support.

She juggles the demanding role with raising two young sons, Cameron, aged four, and Joshua, 22 months.

And now the busy mum has been invited to join the Young Entrepreneurs Conference in Scotland in November as part of a group of 15 from Wales.

The theme of the conference, organised by Encounter, is to bring together young entrepreneurs from the UK and Ireland, as well as providing input from banks, established entrepreneurs, mentors and advisers.

Encounter was set up by the British and Irish governments in 1983 to promote relations between the two countries.

The conference is aimed at entrepreneurs under the age of 35, who have been selected from all over the UK.

They will meet at the Scottish parliament building in Edinburgh and discuss the issues facing young people in business today.

Sarah, aged 31, gave up a job in nursing for a business career at CNS after her husband Mark set up the company in 1996.

She said: "There are many negative perceptions about young people in business, let alone young women.

"So it is a welcome refresher for a conference to identify, culture and develop the entrepreneurial spirit within the younger generation."
